CNA Board & General Meetings

The next Association Board Meeting will be in September.

We are currently in the process of reimagining how CNA will operate and will be embarking on a process to visit Mission, Vision, Values as well as reviewing our terms of reference, board roles, responsibilities and terms and then looking to establish our goals and priorities going forward. We will be seeking neighbour input during this and will keep you posted.

Thank you to those who have responded regarding board positions, we have emailed anyone who expressed interest so far. If you are interested in getting involved on the board, please contact us.

Change Camp Hamilton
Change Camp Hamilton is an event that happens every year which brings residents, post-secondary education institutions, community organizations, and the City of Hamilton together to talk about actions we can take to enhance Hamilton with a focus on community, partnerships, and collaboration.

To learn more about the event and the requirements for project ideas, please visit their website by clicking here.

Pier 8 Promenade Park Design Showcase
The design teams participating in the Pier 8 Promenade Park design competition will present their proposals for the park at the Art Gallery of Hamilton from 12:45 PM until 4:30 PM on Thursday, August 24. You are invited to attend the Design Showcase to see the design proposals unveiled, ask the designers about their proposals, and provide your feedback.

If you are unable to attend the event, the design concepts will be available to view and provide comments in-person at the Lister Block (28 James Street North) and online on Hamilton.ca/pier8parkdesign from Thursday August 24 until Sunday September 10.

New Vision Music Hall – Open House
Save the date Thursday October 26th, 2017 from 5 to 7 p.m. for a kick-off call-to-action open house at New Vision United Church at 24 Main St. W. The church has committed to improving this heritage building to benefit the music and performing arts in Hamilton. On October 26 we will share developments in the initiative and invite wider participation and interest in the project.

The iconic building seats anywhere from 300-1100 people for concerts and performances. The City’s Music Industry Working Committee has called for a regularly available venue in Hamilton at this size and is putting its support behind the project. The space has terrific sight-lines and superb acoustics.

We have some ideas that we would like to tell you about and we have undertaken some actions over the last year that we would like to share with you. The church imagines the space functioning as a live music and performance venue while, at the same time, as a gathering spot that benefits and supports social justice, social innovation, social enterprise, and urban issues meetings. The potential uses for this historically significant space seem endless.

We are inviting you to join in and share your ideas with us for the future of this social space. Come see and hear things happening in the space on October 26, if you have not yet been.

More news to come! If you have questions in the meantime, please contact either Rev Ian Sloan ianbsloan@gmail.com or Jacqueline Norton jacqnorton@gmail.com .

Jacqueline and Ian are spearheading this initiative on behalf of New Vision and the music community.
